A spoonful of Hyderabad – Celebrating foods that binds us together SOH is run by – Faraaz & Samia. An engineer and A Interior Designer who happen to love food with the same passion one can say. A blog that has done multiple events across the city with brands like Wrigley, Pepsico, Uber Eats to restaurants like the park, Mamagoto ohris and many more.
What is the story behind your blog’s name?
It was very Instant! I wanted to start a food page and I was having a conversation with my partner in regards to it around midnight. She came up with the name Spoonful, we loved it and that’s how it became Spoonful of Hyderabad.
Why did you decide/inspired to start a food blog?
We have always loved food and always have been avid users of social media platforms. Spoonful started very organically as we used to click a lot of pictures of food for Snapchat & Instagram since the beginning and had a huge archive of food photos on his mobile. We started the page as a hobby and snowballed into a business for us.
What’s your blog about? Who reads it? Flow long have you been blogging?
Spoonful Of Hyderabad is all about food – Cover all and any grounds of F&B in and around Hyderabad. Being one of the largest pages in Hyderabad there is a huge audience who visit the page varying from younger to older age groups to know about different restaurants, cuisines, dishes around the city. This also means a lot of queries about the budgets and everything. We not only have an audience from Hyderabad but Bangalore, Mumbai, F&B, Dubai & Saudi Arabia as well. We have been blogging since 2years plus now. And have our own Digital Marketing Firm for about a year.
What do you think food blogging will look like in 5 years?
The way and at the rate blogging has changed in the past 5 years, it’s only gonna get bigger and better from here on. Finally, it’s a time and place where bloggers are recognized and appreciated for the amount of work each one puts in as opposed to how it all began with. But one thing to vary in the future would be the authenticity of it all. Blogging out of Passion vs. Blogging for all the wrong reasons. Everything said and done we cannot deny one thing that we see blogging as a very big career opportunity too. Like it has proven to be for all started with a page on Instagram and now we have my own Media company called Spoonful Digital Media.
Which part of blogging excites you most: the recipe development, the post writing, or the photography?
Photography for sure. Since the beginning of our time on as Spoonful of Hyderabad, we have diligently made sure to focus mostly on making the food looks good as opposed to anything else. We have marketed ourselves as “FOOD BLOGGERS & PROMOTERS” and never “FOOD CRITIC” since we would never want to take someone career as a tag for our business. The amount of knowledge, experience & skills each food critic would have isn’t something we are on par with. Our 2yrs of hobby vs someone’s CAREER would be an unfair bias to be taking.
