‘Kolkata Epicurean’ by Blogger Hardik Saga is a food blogging page with its presence on Instagram and Facebook for about two years now. They have a follower base of more than 17000 followers. It began as an Instagram page and two months after its inception they had their Facebook page, Kolkata Epicurean came into existence out of the love for good vegetarian food.
What is the story behind your blog’s name?
Our blog name is ‘Kolkata Epicurean’. We wanted our blog name to be simple and relatable to the people. As we are based out of Kolkata, the prefix is Kolkata and the suffix ‘Epicurean’ refers to someone devoted to sensual enjoyment derived from fine food and drink. Thus, the name ‘Kolkata Epicurean’. Occasionally, we also explore food in other cities in India.
Why did you decide/inspired to start a food blog?
The decision behind starting a food blog was solely driven by the love for good vegetarian food. We loved the way the presentation of the food was done. There was always a desire to try different cuisines.
What’s your blog about? Who reads it? How long have you been blogging?
The blog explores the vegetarian food mostly in Kolkata and occasionally in other cities of India. We have been posting on Instagram for about two years and we do a monthly street food series. We are present on Facebook and Instagram with a total follower base of more than 17000. Our audience comprises people of all age groups present on these platforms. It has been about two years since we started our page and began posting on it. It has been close to nine months since we started food blogging.
Which part of blogging excites you the most: the recipe development, the post writing or the photography?
The post writing and photography excites us the most. While photography is a quintessential part of food blogging, writing is as exciting because of the luxury of words available at our disposal to describe a particular cuisine or food. If the photography is not perfect, a food blog cannot be successful. It is the picture that speaks a thousand words and the words that convey the real essence of a dish.
Is there any event you are especially looking forward to this year?
There is nothing such that we have been looking forward to. It is the regular invitations and our exploration of the hidden gems of good food across the city that we are looking forward to.

Remember, content is the basic yet most pivotal ingredient of a food blog. Never compromise on good content as it is most sought after. Thumb rule- your audience is smarter than you are. Be honest in your reviews about the food you are posting about. Dishonest paid reviews will be detrimental to your blog in the long run NEVER indulge in purchasing fake followers just to increase your page outlook. It does more harm than good.
