Hyderabad Food Guy is a Food Blog which created by Food Blogger Pallab De. Pallab De is a techie who arrived in Hyderabad towards the beginning of the decade and fell in love with the city’s vibrant and rich culinary legacy. He has been blogging for over a decade and a half, and, shares his food-related musings under the moniker of ‘Hyderabad Food Guy’.

 

Why did you decide/inspired to start a food blog?

I’ve been blogging for over a decade and a half. It was mere curiosity that drove me to create a blog while in school. It was much later that I realized that I enjoyed writing. I was always a techie, and my personal blog eventually morphed into a tech blog. By the time I was in college, I was an Editor at a leading Indian Tech blog, churning out an article a day. Once I graduated, the demands of a professional career and the competitiveness of the tech blogging world forced me to take a break. However, I never stopped writing. Soon enough, I was enthusiastically reviewing restaurants on online portals, passionately discussing places to eat out in Facebook groups, and critically dissecting the nitty-gritties of a dish on WhatsApp. The launch of Foodaholix, the first food blog in the city, inspired me to create my own personal space to document my culinary discoveries and experiences. Hyderabad Food Guy was born soon after.

 

 

What’s your blog about? Who reads it? How long have you been blogging?

My blog, HydFoodGuy, is now five years old. It was amongst the earliest to focus exclusively on Hyderabad’s vibrant and rapidly changing food scene. My readers are, of course, overwhelmingly Hyderabadi. They range from industry professionals and home chefs to students and casual diners.

 

 

Which part of blogging excites you most: the recipe development, the post writing, or the photography?

Although there’s something quite satisfying about a well-executed click, it’s writing that got me into blogging. And that’s definitely what I enjoy the most.

Do you have any special blogging tip for new bloggers?

Writing can be cathartic. But it is not everyone’s cup of tea. Find a medium that plays to your strengths – whether it’s peppy photographs on Instagram, thoughtful essays on Medium, or interesting videos on YouTube. Penning down articles and publishing them takes time, effort, and energy. You’ll manage to stick to it only if you enjoy writing. Once you’ve found the medium you love, emphasize your own unique perspective and talents.
