Chef Toshit Sharma:-
Chef Toshit Sharma started his career with Oberoi Hotels in India, where he learned the kitchen basics in different sections. Chef Toshit worked in six different countries throughout his career where he learned different culinary techniques with the international chef’s. Working abroad was an incredible exposure to develop his skills.
What inspired you to become a chef?
A way to man’s heart is through his stomach & I want to be in everyone hearts. During my training days at Oberoi Hotels, I observed the kind of respect a chef gains for his hard work, devotion, stamina, passion, dedication, commitment & patience even sometimes a GM don’t get.
Is there a chef you admire the most? Who and why?
I have a list of my mentors at different workplace! I would like to give special thanks to Chef Surendra Singh, Chef Ashish Bhasin, Chef Gaurav Prasher, Chef Rajpal, Chef Zulficar & Chef Christian Rose through this discussion for the guidance which they provided me to achieve my goals in my career.
What have been the key drivers for the success of your journey?
I always had faith in myself, so far I gave my services in 6 different countries I waited for the right time & opportunity rather than taking a short cut. I also had hard times at different phase in my career however I keep continued my work with dedication.
Do you have any advice for someone wanting to become a chef?
Keep patience & do your hard work. Everyone has the destiny to get success in his/her career which comes with experience & time. Remember one thing –‘Everyone is born equal but few become Chef’s’.
Which is your favorite home cooked food?
Being a Rajasthani I enjoy Dal Bhati Churma the most at home, also I use to love Dahi wali aloo ki sabzi cooked by my grandmother, who left us a few years back.
